Cosentino opens a new Center in Finland to strengthen the Group’s presence in Scandinavia

7 septiembre, 2017

Cosentino officially opened its new Cosentino Center in Helsinki at the end of august. This comprehensive logistics facility, located in the Finnish capital, completes the multinational’s extraordinary presence in the Scandinavian market where it already has Centers in Norway, Denmark and Sweden.

07.09.2017  Cosentino landed in Sweden for the first time in 2006, in the region of Northern Europe, to open the Cosentino Göteborg Center, which offered regular Cosentino product services to the Scandinavian countries. In 2013, the company opened its second distribution centre in the city of Oslo, Norway, thus covering demand in that country, as well as providing services to Iceland. And at the end of 2016, the town of Hedensted in Denmark welcomed the company’s third Center in Scandinavia.

Now the new Cosentino Center in Helsinki will cover distribution services in the Nordic country, and will also provide services to the Baltic countries: Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. The creation of this infrastructure represents a total investment of €850,000 (not counting stock), and provides a total surface area of 2,000m2 for the storage of around 5,000 slabs. Lastly, the Center will start off with a workforce of 11 employees, some of whom will be dedicated to serving the Baltic countries mentioned, raising the Spain-based company’s total employee figure to 52 in the region.

According to Pierre Wernlundh, Cosentino’s Managing Director for Scandinavia, Although the market shares for stone in general are still small in Scandinavia and Baltic, especially if you compare with the south of Europe, we can see a clear trend in this market that shows this type of products are becoming more and more popular. In Cosentino, we have a firm commitment with Scandinavia. Cosentino has the best service and distribution network of the industry in this region with 4 Centers, more than 50 employees and 9 trucks to supply and service our clients efficiently. In 2017 we expect to reach more than €20 million  sales in Scandinavia, number that will increase in the coming years.

And, adding this opening to the opening in Denmark last year, Cosentino has invested almost €3 million in a little over a year. A demonstration of the relevance of this highly prosperous region of Europe, where the company first landed 11 years ago. With the Helsinki Center, the multinational rounds off its commitment to the region through fixed assets in Scandinavia and maintaining its active policy of geographical diversification and control of its own distribution, consolidating itself as one of the most internationally widespread Spanish companies of the moment.
