The trade mission, which started on Sunday 29th September and is organized by the Spanish National Association of Furniture Manufacturers and Exporters (ANIEME), is part of the six-month Project Nigeria that will last till December 2013 and aims to introduce the Spanish furniture companies to this thriving market place.

On their first day, Spain’s companies met local operators in a B2B meeting that took place on Monday the 30th in one of the most renowned hotels in Lagos. In the next days, Spanish furniture manufacturers will be visiting important showrooms and the headquarters of Nigerian furniture dealers.

Soon after the trade mission, the third phase of the Project Nigeria will start, with the promoter strengthening the established business relationships and organizing the personal visit of Spanish brands to their Nigerian clients.
According to the IMF, Nigeria’s economy is expected to grow by 6.7% at the end of 2013, placing the country 12thg among main emerging countries. The growth of the real estate market and the improvement of Nigerians’ living standards have led to an increase of furniture consumption and imports.

With such a forecast, and considering also the population of Nigeria (170 million people, 20 million concentrated in Lagos) and therefore the number of potential clients for Mueble de España, ANIEME has included the country among its Africa’s targets, together with Ghana, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea and Angola.
